GAIA ADVENTURES FOR WOMEN
AN INVITATION TO LOVE YOUR LIFE

You're Beautiful - Good Posture is Key

Nothing is more enjoyable than getting up each morning and having your body feeling strong, limber and refreshed. Good posture may be the single most important reason for this, and we should not take it for granted.

What is good posture? Posture is the position in which you hold your body upright against gravity while standing, sitting or lying down. Good posture involves training your body to stand, walk, sit and lie in positions where the least strain is placed on supporting muscles and ligaments during movement or weight-bearing activities.

Good posture is key

Good posture is a life-long habit worth developing. It is simple and do-able, something that is good for you and easy to do, at your desk, at home, or even lying in your bed. Good posture can help in many ways, for instance:

  • Helps to keep bones and joints in the correct alignment so that muscles are being used properly
  • Helps decrease the abnormal wearing of joint surfaces that could result in arthritis
  • Decreases the stress on the ligaments holding the joints of the spine together
  • Helps prevent the spine from becoming fixed in abnormal positions
  • Alleviates fatigue because muscles are being used more efficiently, allowing the body to use less energy
  • Helps prevent strain or overuse problems
  • Helps prevent backache and muscular pain
  • Helps with better breathing and well-being
  • Contributes to a good appearance and makes you feel and look better

The key to maintaining good posture is regular stretching and core strengthening. Be sure to include a full body stretching routine throughout the day to help reduce muscle tension, improve circulation and help reduce stress and fatigue.

Add core training to your exercise routine, using body ball, pilates exercises, isolation exercises such as the "plank" and "side plank". You will feel better and look fabulous.

Try a personal fitness training session with us and improve your posture and fitness.
