GAIA ADVENTURES FOR WOMEN
AN INVITATION TO LOVE YOUR LIFE

Turn on your POWER
Most people think
of "power training" as being some
kind of Rocky Balboa-style workouts. Luckily, you can turn
on your power from training a different muscle: your
brain.
The key is to train it to send signals more efficiently to
your muscles via the nerve pathways that connect them. This
means that when your brain tells your legs to jump, they'll
do it faster and with more force.
You can achieve this kind
of power by incorporating power-specific moves to your weekly
strength regimen. You only need to power train ONE day a
week to benefit. Here are some ideas to try out: 1. Medicine Ball Slam
Grab a 2 to 4 pound medicine ball and
stand with feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent.
Raise
the ball overhead and use your core to throw the ball forcefully
to the ground.
2. Lateral Bound
Push off with both legs and jump sideways,
land as softly as possible then quickly explode back over.
3. Skip rope
Skip at a steady pace for 1 minute intervals,
rest and repeat up to 5 times.
Call us to start training for power. Personal and small group
training available.

Deluxe Weekend Retreat
$565 plus GST
Early Bird Discount of $35 when you register by June 5.
Price includes: ground transportation and ferry, accommodation for two
nights, a trained guide, all meals. Bicycle rental not included.
Cycle the Goose, a picturesque trail, formerly a railway line,
and ride through urban, rural and wilderness scenery on a 60 km
journey from Victoria ferry to Sooke. The Galloping Goose Regional
Trail was named for the gas-powered passenger car that carried
mail and 30 passengers twice daily between Victoria and Sooke during
the 1920s.
From Schwartz Bay we follow the Lockside trail, traveling past Bazan Bay and
wondrous beach views. We continue our way through farmland along flat
fast terrain to reach Switch Bridge, near Victoria. You can spot bald
eagles, or turkey vultures floating on a thermal. You have time to watch
a deer in the sword ferns.
The scenery flows by in slow motion. A
quiet cove. A dark, hidden lake. Rocky outcrops split by twisted Garry
Oak. From asphalt to rainforest to canyon… the Goose knows every landscape
on Southern Vancouver Island. We cycle 30 km to Victoria and stay the
night at the downtown/inner harbour area.
We ride along the back roads to Saanich. Then the trail slices through the
urban setting of View Royal, Colwood and Langford. Yet in a delightful
surprise, ferns, shrubs and rock outcrops shield you from much of the concrete. At
Metchosin, the trail moves lazily past small farms surrounded by hills. Steep,
rocky slopes march down to the trailside. Occasionally the Goose drops into
a creek bed. You can stop on the bridge and watch cool water flow over
igneous rock.
We will spend the night at the Goose Trail Bed and Breakfast located in fabulous
Cooper's Cove. Come and experience one of the best biking experiences in BC.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Please call or email Gaia or register
